Holy week in Madrid where processions take the streets. It was still raining earlier on but surprisingly the sky cleared as the procession began…
I read that the wearing of hood was to signify the mourning of the death of Jesus Christ.
Mary the Virgin carried on huge heavy altar. Despite having to carry this float for hours, to these men, it was great honour. The little girl got really good view. While I was squashed and pushed.
After a good few hours, we are back at the cathedral.
Tomorrow I shall experience a slightly different procession (if I’m lucky) in another city (Cuenca) which celebrates the resurrection of Jesus Christ.
