Füssen – Part 1

After putting up for a night in Munich, I took an early train and arrived in Fussen at around 11+ in the morning. Fussen is a 700 yr old town in Bavaria, Germany. The medieval townscape, magnificent lakes & surrounding mountain peaks is sure to make one fall in love with this place.

My accommodation. Couldn’t find any cheap hostel so I have to make do with hotel. Heartache.

Communal area

Getting ready to start exploring

The High Palace (Hohes Schloss) – former residence of Augsburg prince bishops

The clock tower of high palace

St Mang Monastery & Basilica

The town fountain covered in snow. In the middle is Fussen’s patron saint – St Magnus

The Reichenstrasse – historical patricians’ houses

Do you know Fussen was the cradle of Lute-Making in Europe?

The bread market that used to be the origin of the medieval town.

Holy Ghost Hospital Church – the rococo facade depicts St Florian as a help in preventing fires  where the previous gothic church was burnt down in 1733

Lech River

It took me quite a while to find this – Lechfall.

These pictures are either taken in early mornings or in the evenings so they the color look kinda dull.
